  • How do I clean Limestone?
    Make sure to avoid any acids as depending of the length of time the limestone is exposed to it and its concentration, this could possibly etch the face of your limestone. Instead make sure that your Limestone is maintained using alkaline based products such as Sprit Neutral cleaner or for those hard to remove stains Spirit’s HDC (Heavy Duty Cleaner).
  • Is there a special glue that needs to be used for glueing Limestone to a pool coping?
    Yes. The adhesive chosen should be a cement based product which is NOT Rubber modified or Two –part. It should also be mixed with an additive to give it flexibility. Product’s like Davco’s SE-7 Adhesive and Davelastic Additive are suitable for such uses.
  • Can Limestone cladding be used for Water features?
    Yes. Providing the proper precautions have been taken to waterproof the substrate that the cladding is being glued onto and making sure that the adhesive being used is suitable for use over waterproofing membranes.
  • Can I use Limestone Pavers on a Driveway?
    Yes. Providing the product is laid using a “Wet bed method,” i.e. glued onto a concrete base. Conventional paving of road base and sand is only suitable for walkways or areas where there is only foot traffic.
  • Will there be variation in colour of my stone?
    Yes. Definitely. Being a natural stone one of the main characteristics is that there is no one piece that is the same. Variances in shade and patterns are inherent in all natural stones and are one of its main characteristics and attractions.
  • Will the colour of the stone fade?
    No. Limestone being a natural stone is consistent the whole way through and will not fade.
  • Can I use Limestone around salt water chlorinated swimming pools?
    Yes, providing that the product is sealed with a penetrating sealer that guards against salt attack.
  • Can I use Limestone outdoors?
    Yes, Limestone is suitable for outdoor use. What governs whether or not it is safe for outdoors is the finish of the Tile or Paver. Phoenician Stone’s Antique finish is suitable for outdoors in tile form. And it’s Antique or Honed finish is suitable in Paving for outdoors.
  • Do I need to pre-seal the product before laying?
    It is advised that you do pre seal the product before laying. This is to ensure that the stone is not damaged or marked during the installation process. Make sure to seal the face of the product and if required, sides also. NEVER seal the back or the bottom of the tile as this may cause the adhesive being used to not grab to the tile.
  • Does Limestone Need sealing?
    As Limestone is a natural stone and all natural stones are porous. It is advised that the product be sealed. Phoenician stone recommends that a penetrating Sealer be used. Here are some recommendations below. -Spirit Premium Seal -Dry treat Stain Proof -Dry treat Marble and Porcelain Seal -Dry treat Enhance Plus Each of the above products will last different lengths and will determine the amount of times re-sealing is required
